Renowned Pakistani poet Nazir Qaiser visits SF Bay Area

Prominent Urdu poet from Pakistan, Nazir Qaiser, visited the San Francisco Bay Area recently where he was honored by the Urdu enthusiasts with several literary evenings.
He was hosted by the Urdu Academy North America and Pakistan American Democratic Forum (PADF). Entrepreneur Syed Sarwat and Mrs. Muzna Syed also hosted Nazir Qaiser.
Urdu Academy hosted a literary evening with Nazir Qaiser on May 17, 2015 at Chandni Restaurant, Fremont/Newark CA. The Urdu Academy president Tashie Zaheer was the MC of the event. He presented a well researched maqala on the poetry of the distinguished poet.

Nazir Qaiser, who writes poetry in Punjabi and Urdu, began his poetic career in 1959. From the very beginning his poetry was published by Pakistan's top Urdu literary magazine such as Naqoosh, Adabi Dunya, Fanoon, Awraaq, Adb-e-Lateef, Seep and Naqsh.
His poetry collection was published in 1968. The title of this collection was "Aankhein, Chehra, Hath" (Eyes, Face, Hand) which became very popular in the old as well as young generation.
Prominent young poets of that era, such as Parveen Shakir, Sarwat Hussain and Jamal Ahsani, acknowledged that their thoughts were influenced by Nazir Qaiser's poetry.
Parveen Shakir said "Aankhein, Chehra, Hath" was her popular poetry book.
Sarwat Hussain was of the view that Nazir Qaiser's poetry has influenced three generation.
After 1968 several editions of this book were published which were sold very quickly.
Since the publication of his first poetic anthology Nazir Qaiser published 13 poetry collections in Urdu and Punjabi. Sanjh Publishers of Lahore is planning to publish his latest poetry collection as well as his out of print old poetry books.
On May 10, 2015, Pakistan-American Democratic Forum Literary Circle, led by Dr. Agha Saeed, held a special session to honor Nazir Qaiser. The event was attended among others by Hafeezullah Niazi, Prof. Lubna Manzar and Mohammad Ashraf Chaudhry. Maryam Turab was MC of the program. Dr. Anshuman Chandra amused the audience with a musical rendition of Nazir Qaiser's ghazal.
On May 23, 2015, Entrepreneur Syed Sarwat and Mrs. Muzna Syed hosted a literary evening to honor Nazir Qaiser. The event was attended by Urdu enthusiasts. Syed Sarwat is a dedicated supporter of Urdu in the Bay Area. His Chandni Restaurant is hosting Urdu Academy's monthly literary sessions since 2009.
