Urdu Academy pays tribute to Arsh Siddiqui

Urdu Academy of North America's April 19, 2015 literary monthly session was dedicated to the life and work of great Urdu poet and prose writer Arsh Siddiqui.
The event, held at the Chandni Restaurant, Newark/Fremont CA, was presided over by Dr. Esmat Kamal. Prof. Lubna Manzar was MC of the session. She read a well-researched Maqala on the life and work of Arsh Siddiqui born in Gurdaspur (Punjab) in January 1927. His father Maqsood Ali Siddiqui had settled in Gurdaspur in connection with his job as Court Reader.
Arsh Siddiqui's real name was Irshadur Rehman. He expired on April 18, 1997 at the age of 70.
He got Master's degree from the Government College Lahore and did his PhD from the World University Arizona. Dr Arsh Siddiqui was the founding chairman of the English department of Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan.
His published works included: Deeda-e-Yaqub, Mohabbat Lafz Thaa Meraa, Moj-e-Hawa Tez (poetry), Bahar Kafan-ke PaouN (Short stories), Takween Mohakmat and Sciency Sahaoor (Criticism). 
He got Adamjee Award for his work Kafan Ke Bahar PauN.
As usual a number of Urdu enthusiasts recited Arsh Siddiqui's poetry:
Tasadduq Attari, Moiz Khan, Irshad Ali Khan, Hatim Rani, Zafar Naqvi, Mobeen Khalil, Azhar Shah, Khalid Rana, Jaafar Shah and Nagesh Awadani.
